RoboCup 2012 German Open

DAY 1:

28.03.2012

After a nearly adventurous journey from Bremen over Hannover to Magdeburg, finally all B-Human team members arrived at the fair halls. After setting up all our equipment, the next task is to calibrate the robots: joints, camera and color tables need to match the conditions at the new location in order to guarantee a flowless gameplay. The first match will be played on friday.

DAY 2: Test games

29.03.2012

Today we had the first test games but without opponents. Those were not only to test our robots but also to test the communication of the team members because a good organisation at the sideline is essential for a good game. We hope that our organisational overhead will pay out in the group matches tomorrow. Our tests fell out very positiv: though playing with two yellow goals, none of our robots lost their orientation. We also tested a few special cases like penalty shoot out and the case that one robot is left alone on the field (because his team mates are penalized for playing foul or have technical issues). Those tests made us feel confident for the serious games tomorrow.

DAY 3: The first game

30.03.2012

Our first group match is over. In the game against the "Bembelbots" from Frankfurt, Germany, we scored nine goals. Unfortunately one of them was an own goal which was caused by a localisation failure of the robot (he thought he would be shooting at the opponents goal). Our keeper tried the best but was not able to stop the ball which was shot from very near distance. So the final result of the game was 8:1 for B-Human. We are not completly satisfied with the performance in that first game, although this is to be affiliated with the bad hardware condition of our robots. We now try to fix a few minor details and will then compete against the "SPITEAM" from Spain at 5:25 pm today.

DAY 3: The second game

30.03.2012

Our second group match game just ended with a score of 9:0 for B-Human. This game seemed a little bit nicer than the first one today but there is still room for improvements. Like in the first game, we only played with three robots but were able to dominate the game from the beginning to the end.

DAY 4: Last group match

31.03.2012

Our third and last group match against the coolRUNners from Rostock, Germany just finished with an awesome score of 10:0 for B-Human. Because the goal difference was above 10, the game was aborted in the second half. As three of our robots are still being repaired we again only played with three robots. Being the winner in our group, we reached the quarter finals in which the first game for us will start at 5:15 pm today. Our opponent for that game is undetermined by now.
