120,000 pictures are taken care of on a daily basis for exhibitions at a museum specializing in Art and Cultural History. Previously, this restorative care was completed manually and about two and a half hours had to be scheduled for cleaning a surface of approx. 31 x 24 inches (800 x 600 mm).
The first world’s first restorative robot was designed to complete this work automatically. igus® products were found to fulfill the application requirements and also offered the most cost efficient solution.
Manual cleaning the pictures takes a lot of time.
To remove dirt from the surface of the picture, the face of the robot has to move forward in a rotary motion and press on the surface with a force of about 0.6 Newton.
